National trade and employer organization for the painting and surface treatment industry promoting business opportunities for our member companies and developing the surface treatment industry

Our member companies are experts in the surface treatment industry. About 230 of our member companies form a nationwide network of surface treatment professionals, offering all surface treatment and painting work from demanding facade repairs and industrial surface treatments to home renovations.

The combined turnover of our member companies is approximately 500 million euros, and they employ over 4,000 professionals. A typical company in the industry is a family business with fewer than 10 employees, while our largest member companies employ over 200 people.

Advocate for Surface Treatment Companies

Founded in 1912, the Surface Contractors Association (formerly the Finnish Master Painters Association) has the primary task of negotiating a universally binding collective agreement for the painting and flooring and wall covering industry with the Construction Union. Our goal is to ensure that our member companies have collective agreements that enable them to succeed in the construction industry. Additionally, the Surface Contractors Association is involved in negotiating a universally binding collective agreement for construction industry officials with the Trade Union PRO.

Active Promoter of the Surface Treatment Industry

We work to improve the operational opportunities of the surface treatment industry. We have good contacts with societal decision-making both independently and through the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT and the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK. We also influence industry legislation and economic and education policies.

Supporting and Assisting Members

Our goal is for our members to be known as skilled and competent industry leaders, trusted and respected by employees. We provide our member companies with training and advice, particularly on labor law issues, but also offer contract law advisory services. We keep our members updated on other legal and employment matters and actively inform them about changes in the operating environment.

Our goal is also to offer our members concrete cost savings, as mistakes in employment matters and potential disputes are almost always expensive.

Collaboration

The Surface Contractors Association consists of 18 sub-associations. We work closely with our member associations, which also organize their own local activities and training for their members.

The Surface Contractors Association is also part of the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT and the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK. The Surface Contractors Association is one of the two associations that form the Surface Industry sector of RT. The other association in the sector is The Roofing Association.
